The Temporal Dial is a heavily advanced wrist-mounted machine that allows its users to travel to different points in history. It is owned by Nathan Summers.

History[]

Deadpool 2[]

After the death of his wife and daughter by the mutant despot Firefist, the mutant-cyborg soldier Cable obtained the Temporal Dial somehow, using it to go back to the point in time when Firefist was a teenager and kill him, thereby erasing the deaths of his family and saving his future from this doomed reality. However, Cable's plans were repeatedly interrupted by the mutant mercenary Deadpool. After numerous violent encounters, the two teamed up to stop Russell from going down a dark path and succeeded, but seemingly at the cost of Wade’s life. Feeling he owed Deadpool a favor for his selfless sacrifice, Cable used the Dial to go back in time to a few hours before they confronted Russell and managed to save Deadpool with his Chuck-E-Cheese token but sacrificed his last chronal charge and keeping him from returning to his wife and daughter.

However, Wade later had Yukio and Ellie repair and upgrade the Dial, allowing for several teleportation charges, allowing him to save his girlfriend Vanessa from death along with fellow X-Force member Peter and even killing his Weapon XI self in 1979 before he could attack Wolverine. It's unknown whether or not he returned it to Cable, and if Nathan used it to return home to his family.

Functions[]

The Temporal Dial allows its users to travel to any point in history. However, as Cable mentioned, the further in time one goes back, the less precise the location it will allow its user to land. Initially, the device only had two charges, which allowed the user to go back in time and return to their original time. Yukio and Negasonic seem to have fixed this, as Wade later made several jumps in time with the device with no worries of this.
