Strike is counter-terrorism and black ops S.H.I.E.L.D. team whose members were undercover HYDRA operatives.

History

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Strike team was sent to rescue hostages from a S.H.I.E.L.D ship, the Lemurian Star, which had been hijacked by the mercenary Georges Batroc and his band of pirates. Strike fought the pirates and rescued the hostages, but with some difficulty when Natasha Romanoff abandoned her part in the mission to pursue a mission of her own. Her mission, to retrieve restricted data from the ship, allowed Batroc the opportunity to escape.

On the orders of Alexander Pierce, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, including members of Strike, were sent to capture Steve Rogers in one of the elevators of the Triskelion. They were soundly defeated however, and Steve made his escape. After this failure they were tasked with finding and capturing the fugitive, who had gone on the run in the company of Agent Romanoff. Their first attempt failed when the pair eluded them at a shopping mall, and they missed a second chance when Steve and Natasha escaped a missile strike at Camp Lehigh. This prompted Rumlow to call in the "asset," a HYDRA operative known as The Winter Soldier.

Strike and the Winter Soldier attacked Steve, Natasha and their new ally Sam Wilson on a highway while they were transporting HYDRA sleeper agent Jasper Sitwell. The Winter Soldier's abilities won out over those of the fugitives, allowing Strike to finally captured them. However, while they were transporting their captives to a secure location, the three heroes were rescued by Maria Hill, who was disguised as a HYDRA agent. Their escape went unnoticed until Strike reached their destination.

They were subsequently called into action once more when Alexander Pierce issued his take over directive to HYDRA agents embedded within S.H.I.E.L.D. Rumlow led the remnants of the team in securing the operations room, and personally issued launch codes for three Insight helicarriers. Moments later, a firefight broke out between loyal S.H.I.E.L.D agents and the forces of HYDRA. As the skirmish drew to a close, and after Insight Helicarrier IN-01 crashed into the Triskelion, the ranks of Strike were left decimated.
