Character traits[]

Shuri is a highly intelligent and calculating individual, constantly making improvements to Wakanda's technology, particularly the rare metal alloy, Vibranium, as she believes that even if something has already been improved, does not mean that it doesn't need to be further improved.

Shuri is a fan of American culture, as evidenced by the fact that she dresses in American style clothing, such as brand t-shirts, jeans and shorts in high contrast to the traditional or high-class clothes of other Wakandans. Shuri's inventions are hinted to have be directly inspired by the films that she would watch with her father, the late T'Chaka.

Shuri has a very child-like demeanor, always teasing her brother, T'Challa, and never having several regards to formality. But she does love her family a lot and does become very concerned about their safety, particularly her brother's.

Shuri had a good relationship with her father to the point that she was completely blinded to his true colours, when N'Jadaka arrived in Wakanda and revealed that he was her long lost cousin, as well as the fact that T'Chaka had killed his own brother, N'Jobu, in cold blood, but she did not believe him, until W'Kabi presented one of the Wakandan royal rings that was in N'Jadaka's possession; not only proving that what he had stated, regarding him being a member of the royal Wakandan bloodline, but also what he stated, regarding her father's true colours was also true.

Shuri was completely devastated to learn that her father was not the benevolent, honorable and moral individual that she believed him to be, as well as the fact that he could kill someone in cold blood, regardless whether or not they were his enemies or members of his own bloodline.

It is very likely that, Shuri has completely lost any love, respect and trust that, she once had for her father, T'Chaka, after realizing what kind of individual he truly was.

Shuri is sometimes sarcastic to the point of being rude, for example, when Everett Ross asked Shuri "what must I do with the Wakandan planes that I have found", she sarcastically stated, "shoot them down, genius".

Shuri is extremely arrogant and overconfident meaning that she underestimates her opponents. For example, after N'Jadaka challenged T'Challa for both the throne of Wakanda and the mantle of Black Panther, she arrogantly believed N'Jadaka couldn't win, completely disregarding her cousin's reputation as both a navy seal and black ops mercenary, and thus became horrified when N'Jadaka gained the upper hand over T'Challa and defeated him in ritual combat.

Despite this, Shuri does not truly learn from her mistakes, for example, even after she had witnessed how deadly N'Jadaka was as a combatant, she still underestimated him almost costing Shuri her life, when she got into a direct confrontation against her cousin, only surviving due to T'Challa's intervention.
