Sean Cassidy, also known as Banshee, is a mutant, who can generate and manipulate sound waves from his vocal chords.
Biography[]
X-Men: First Class[]
Sean is a mutant with the power to create powerful sonic waves with his voice. In 1962, he was recruited by Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr in order for him to join their team of mutant peacekeepers they were forming for the CIA.
After the Hellfire Club tried to recruit them, Sean and the others relocated to Xavier's mansion where they began training to defeat Shaw. Xavier taught him how to control his ability and use it to fly by using a harness developed by Hank McCoy.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, when the team assembled to finally confront the Hellfire Club, faced Angel alongside Havok.
X-Men: Days of Future Past[]
During a violent and aggressive confrontation between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr on a plane, Erik reproaches over the death of Azazel, Angel, Emma Frost and Banshee.
But Sean's autopsy file was not seen by Mystique, implying that Sean may still be alive and that he is likely in hiding, thus, he was not among the other mutants that were experimented on by Bolivar Trask, as Erik only presumes that he is dead.
X2: X-Men United[]
Sean's name appears on a list of names Mystique scrolls through on Stryker's computer while looking for Magneto's file.

- Mutant Physiology: Banshee is a very powerful mutant who possesses the power to generate and manipulate powerful sound waves.
- Sonokinesis: Banshee has superhumanly powerful lungs, throat and vocal cords and can manipulate the sound waves created through his voice.
- Sonic Scream: Banshee can produce a sonic scream for various effects.
- Sonar: Banshee can use his sonic abilities to replicate the effects of a sonar. By emitting a precise note he can assess his surroundings even underwater or in complete darkness.
- Flight: Banshee can hover at the speed of sound, by using the sonic waves he emits from his mouth to propel himself into the sky.
- Superhuman Immunity: Banshee is completely immune to any mutant or mutate with similar sound or sound wave-based powers.
- Sonokinesis: Banshee has superhumanly powerful lungs, throat and vocal cords and can manipulate the sound waves created through his voice.
