X-Men: Days of Future Past (Rogue Cut)
Pyro's Zippo Lighter was Pyro's weapon. He mostly toys with it.
In X-Men Pyro had a standard lighter before the zippo.
Pyro took the lighter everywhere with him. In the mutant natural museum tour, he was seen figiting with his lighter and is shown that he has the ability to do tricks with the lighter.
There he is seen toying with his lighter again when Bobby and his parents are talking. When he is toying, Bobby's mother tells him to cut it out.
Police arrive at the home (by a call by Ronny Drake in order to turn them in) telling them to go on the ground. Instead of going on the ground, John takes out his lighter and uses it to attack the police and blow up their cars. When the fighting is over, the X-Jet picks up the four mutants.
When the X-Men team up with Magneto, he is sitting right next to him and he says that he is the bad guy. All of the sudden, he uses his power to take the lighter from John's hands. He asks him what his name is and responds "John" but asks him what his real name is. He summons the fire from the lighter and responds "Pyro". Magneto saw the talent of him and gave him his lighter back.
Bobby, Rogue, and he are sitting in the jet. Here he is toying with it again and says he wants to help and leaves the jet.
John replaces his lighter with a custom hand wrist lighter.
In the Rogue Cut of the film, John's lighter can be seen at the center of a makeshift memorial to fallen mutants, indicating that he was a casualty of the war against the sentinels.
- Bryan Singer chose the shark design because his favorite film was Jaws.
