The Plasma Particle Beam (also known as the 0-8-4) was a Tesseract-powered weapon discovered in Peru by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. It was originally labeled an 0-8-4 (object of unknown origin) before S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists determined that it had in fact been built on Earth.

History[]

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

"0-8-4"[]

Coulson's Team was called in to investigate when the device was found embedded in the wall of an ancient temple in Peru. Agents Fitz and Simmons ran tests on the device, but Agent Ward was forced to prematurely pull the device out of the wall and take it back to the Bus when the site was attacked by Peruvian rebels who wanted to steal the device. Onboard the Bus, Fitzsimmons ran further tests and determined that the device was a plasma particle beam weapon powered by the Tesseract and built by HYDRA. Peruvian troops led by Camilla Reyes attempted to steal the device, but were foiled. The device was said to have been fired into the sun by Slingshot.

"Providence"[]

It was revealed that Project Slingshot was a hoax, and all of the weapons supposedly fired off using it were actually hidden in a secret vault in The Fridge called the Toy Box. Agents Ward and Garrett stole the weapon and used it to break into other areas of the Fridge, including the Ice Box and the underground vault where the Gravitonium was being stored. They took the device with them back to the Centipede Group base in Cuba.

"Beginning of the End"[]

Coulson uses the Plasma Particle Beam to kill a newly upgraded John Garrett.
