Gravitonium (Gr) is a rare, high atomic number element that possesses unique gravitational properties. Gravitonium has an atomic number of 123 and an atomic mass of 308.
Small gravity field generators prototypes were used to attack a S.H.I.E.L.D. priority red transport transporting an asset. It is mentioned that Dr. Franklin Hall (the asset) spent much of his life on the discovery and application of Gravitonium, and is the leading expert. He gave a seminar on Gravitonium at Cambridge at the same time Ian Quinn was there.
Ian Quinn spent much of his funding and resources searching for Gravitonium, and after 20 mines and 6 continents, he finally found it. He kidnaps Dr. Hall to work on it in his facility at Malta, but Hall decides to use it to entomb the Gravitonium and Quinn at the bottom of the ocean along this his Estate and several innocent people. Couslon is forced to stop the Gravitonium from activating by insertion of a catalyst, Dr. Hall himself. The Gravitonium is transfered to the Fridge, where it is kept in a secret underground vault with no trace or labeling. Unknown to anyone, Hall was somehow still alive within the Gravitonium.
As Coulson's team were unwillingly being brought to the Hub, they realized that the data from the cases they worked would be valuable to their HYDRA enemies. Ward wondered if the Gravitonium would be confiscated with everything else, but Coulson assured him that it was off the records and kept in a secret level of the Fridge.
Later, when Ian Quinn was liberated and brought to Garrett's hideout, he showed the Gravitonium to him, offering it to him in exchange for his services.
