"Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: 'With great power comes great responsibility.' This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man."
―Peter Parker[src]

Peter Benjamin Parker was bitten by a genetically engineered super spider during a high school excursion, which granted him superhuman attributes and led him to become a masked crime-fighter known as Spider-Man. Peter is a student at Columbia University and a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle.

Throughout his crime-fighting career, Peter fought multiple foes as Spider-Man, those consisting of the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, New Goblin, Sandman, and Venom, all of whom were personally connected to his civilian life. Eventually, he started a stable relationship with Mary Jane Watson, despite all the inconviences of his double life.

Peter was later transported from his universe to Earth-199999 when the Peter Parker of that universe tampered with Doctor Strange's spell to make the world forget that he is Spider-Man. There, Peter was reunited with his old enemies Norman Osborn, Otto Octavius, and Flint Marko, helping to cure the three men and give them a chance at a better fate.

In 2002, Peter was having a bad morning as the bus had left without him and the driver and students aboard deliberately kept driving to mess with him; until Mary Jane put a stop to it and made them let him on. On a field trip to Columbia University Genetics Lab, Peter and Harry ribbed each other about talking to Mary Jane while they all observed the specimens, different species of "super spiders", that had been genetically modified in several different types of ways. While taking photos in the laboratory, Peter was bitten by an escaped spider, a new species created in the lab. The venom of this spider ended up poisoning and mutating Peter's DNA, the process of which made him very ill. Overnight, the mutations end up turning him into a hybrid. The next morning, Peter finds that his previously impaired vision has improved and that his body has metamorphosized into a more muscular physique. When Peter goes to school, he finds himself producing webbing and having quick reflexes to avoid being injured in a fight with Flash Thompson. Peter escapes from the school and realizes that he has acquired spider-like powers from the spider bite. He quickly learned to scale walls, long jump across building rooftops and swing via webs from his wrists.

Peter wearing an early Spider-Man suit participating in the wrestling tournament.

Lying to his aunt and uncle about where he is going, Peter decides to enter a wrestling tournament to get money to buy a car and impress Mary Jane. During an argument, Uncle Ben advises Peter, "With great power comes great responsibility." Reacting defensively, Peter rejected the advice, and stormed out of the car and expressing impatience and frustration. Ben, clearly disheartened by Peter's reaction, told his nephew he planned on picking him up at 10 pm that night.

In his home-made spider suit Peter enters the wrestling match and initially nervous after seeing the condition his fellow competitors were left in after fighting Bone Saw as well as his match becoming a cage match, he gains confidence through wise cracks and pins Bone Saw in less than three minutes. The promoter, however, only pays Peter $100 of his $3,000 prize money because he, despite winning, wasn't in the ring for 3 minutes. In retaliation, he allows a thief to escape with the promoter's gate money. Afterward, Peter finds out his uncle has been carjacked and killed. Peter tracks down the carjacker only to find out he was the same thief he allowed to escape earlier. During the struggle, the thief falls out of a window and dies. Although he got what he wanted, despite not killing his uncle's murderer, Peter decides to use his abilities to fight injustice under his Spider-Man persona to make up his regret for not saving Ben. Shortly before graduation from Midtown High, Peter designed a new Spider-Man costume for his first crime fighting career. After his graduation, where he begin his first crime fighting career, Peter is hired as a freelance photographer when he arrives in newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson's office with the only clear images of Spider-Man.

The Green Goblin offers Spider-Man a place at his side, but Spider-Man refuses, knowing that it is the right thing to do. At the Osborn and Parkers' Thanksgiving dinner, Norman Osborn, unknown to Peter, discovers Spider-Man's true identity; the Green Goblin subsequently attacks Aunt May. While Aunt May recovers in the hospital, Mary Jane admits she has a crush on Spider-Man, who rescued her on numerous occasions, and asks Peter whether he ever asked about her. Peter reflects on his own feelings, during which Harry enters. Feeling betrayed by his girlfriend and best friend, Harry tells his father whom Peter loves the most, unintentionally revealing Spider-Man's biggest weakness.

The Green Goblin holds Mary Jane and a tram car full of children hostage on top of the Queensboro Bridge where Spider-Man arrives. The Green Goblin forces Spider-Man to choose who he wants to save and drops Mary Jane and the children. Spider-Man manages to save both Mary Jane and the tram car, while the Green Goblin is pelted by civilians showing loyalty to Spider-Man. The Green Goblin then grabs Spider-Man and throws him into an abandoned building where he begins to beat and torture him. The tables turn as the Green Goblin boasts of how he will later kill Mary Jane, and an enraged Spider-Man dominates over him, forcing the Green Goblin into being unmasked. Norman begs for forgiveness, but his Goblin persona attempts to remote-control his glider to impale Spider-Man. The superhero evades the attack, causing the glider to impale Norman instead, and he dies asking Peter not to reveal his secret to Harry. At Norman’s funeral, Harry swears vengeance toward Spider-Man, who he believes is responsible for killing his father and asserts that Peter is all he has left. Mary Jane confesses to Peter that she’s in love with him, but Peter, feeling that he must protect her from the unwanted attentions of Spider-Man's enemies, hides his true feelings. As Peter leaves the funeral, he recalls Uncle Ben's words about responsibility and accepts his new life as Spider-Man.

Peter starts to lose his super powers.

Two years later, Peter Parker is finding his double life increasingly difficult. Precariously struggling to balance his crime-fighting duties with the demands of his normal life, Peter often finds his personal life taking a back seat. He loses a job, faces financial difficulties, and struggles to maintain his physics studies. Moreover, he has become estranged from both love interest Mary Jane and best friend Harry Osborn, and Aunt May is threatened with foreclosure.

Doc Ock attempts to rob a bank where Peter Parker and his Aunt May happen to be present. After a short glitch in his powers, Spider-Man manages to take back most of the stolen money, but Doc Ock takes Aunt May as a hostage. When Spider-Man rescues her, she revises her former opinion of him and realizes that he is a hero.

Spider Man no more

"Spider-Man no more".

During a party, Peter learns that M.J. is planning to marry John Jameson, and Harry lashes out at him in a drunken rage due to his loyalty to Spider-Man; shortly afterward he loses his powers while web-slinging across town. Meanwhile, Doc Ock rebuilds his experimental reactor. Peter questions if he could ever have what he "needs", a life as Peter Parker, which involves a vision of Uncle Ben, and resolves to give up being Spider-Man. Back home, after visiting Uncle Ben's grave, Aunt May is distressed by Peter's confession that he was somewhat responsible for his Uncle Ben's death. Aunt May and Peter reconcile, and she tells Peter of the hope that Spider-Man brings to others, in spite of what dreams he may have to sacrifice. Peter attempts to re-connect with Mary Jane, but she informs him it is too late. In the meantime, Doc Ock has completed rebuilding his reactor and needs one final item: the tritium which fuels the reactor. He goes to Harry Osborn for it, dangling him over the edge of the Osborn mansion balcony when he refuses. Harry agrees to give Ock what he needs in exchange for capturing Spider-Man. Mary Jane meets Peter in a coffee shop to ask if he still loves her, but Peter replies that he does not. Amidst this exchange, the two are ambushed by Doctor Octopus, who abducts Mary Jane in a ploy to lure Spider-Man into a trap. Peter's powers return, and he dons his costume and engages Doc Ock in battle, culminating with the insane scientist forcing Spider-Man to rescue a runaway subway train.

Spider-Man manages to stop the train before it can plunge over the end of the track, but at great physical exertion. Weak, he is captured by Doctor Octopus and delivered to Harry Osborn. Harry unmasks Spider-Man and is stunned to discover that his sworn enemy is also his best friend. Peter awakens and convinces Harry to reveal Octavius' whereabouts so he can rescue Mary Jane. Spider-Man finds Doctor Octavius in an abandoned warehouse on a waterfront pier, where he's restarted his fusion experiment. After battling with Doc Ock, Spider-Man manages to stun the villain with an electric shock. Peter then reveals his true identity to Octavius and pleads with him to stop the machine. Returned to his senses and determined to end his doomsday experiment before it causes more harm, Octavius uses his mechanical arms to collapse the floor of the building, successfully drowning the device at the cost of his own life. Mary Jane sees Peter without his mask on, but Peter tells her they can never be together, as he will always have enemies. Mary Jane, meanwhile, leaves her wedding and tells Peter she wants to be with him despite the risk. After they kiss, the police sirens are heard and Mary Jane encourages Peter to go fight for justice.

Spider man 3 02

Peter and Mary Jane.

Peter has just begun to feel secure in his life and plans to propose to Mary Jane. Peter attends Mary Jane's new broadway show. As he is leaving the show, he sees Harry and runs up to him, trying to tell him his side of the story. Harry, however, refuses to hear him out.

Peter goes backstage to catch up with Mary Jane before they go on a date in a park. Peter spins a hammock made of spider webs and the couple lie on it while star-gazing. As they lean in for a kiss, behind them is a meteorite that crashes nearby. Unknown to them, the meteorite was carrying an alien symbiote, which oozes out and attaches itself to Peter's moped as the couple drives off.

After dropping off Mary Jane, Peter goes to his Aunt May's apartment and tells her of his plan to propose to Mary Jane. Aunt May teaches Peter that he needs to put Mary Jane before himself, and Peter convinces himself he can do it. Aunt May then tells Peter the story of how his Uncle Ben proposed to her and tells him to make his proposal very special to Mary Jane. She hands Peter her wedding ring as a gift to Mary Jane.

Peter attacked by New Goblin.

While driving back to his apartment, Peter is whisked off his moped by a masked figure on a hoverboard. The masked figure knocks Peter into a wall and reveals himself as Harry, or the New Goblin. A fight between the two ensues through the streets of New York, with Peter nearly losing the ring in the process. In the end, Harry is knocked out in an alleyway and Peter brings him to a hospital. Peter then watches as doctors try to revive Harry.

The next day, Peter is told that Harry will be okay and is led to Harry's ward. Peter finds out that Harry had lost his memory and the two are able to get along just like the old days. Later, Mary Jane arrives, but she and Peter are soon asked to leave. Harry then tells Peter that he would give his life for him and Mary Jane.

Peter returns to his apartment and admires the ring he is going to give Mary Jane. Just then, Mary Jane knocks on the door. Peter welcomes her in and she enters, quite flustered. She then reads out a negative review on her performance. Peter tries to use his experiences as Spider-Man to comfort her, but he just makes her even more upset.

Peter's illegal police band monitor goes off, reporting an out-of-control crane in midtown. Peter gives Mary Jane a sympathetic look, quickly changes into his costume and swings off. Spider-Man arrives just in time to save Gwen Stacy from falling to her death. Eddie Brock, Gwen's alleged boyfriend, approaches Spider-Man and tells him that he is the new photographer of Spider-Man. Spider-Man, annoyed with Brock, swings off to deliver photos to the editor of the Daily Bugle.

When he arrives, he sees Brock has arrived first, and J. Jonah Jameson chooses Brock's photos over Peter's. Jameson then tells the two of them that he will offer them a staff job if they get pictures of Spider-Man committing a crime. Peter tells Brock that he doesn't have a chance of getting that kind of photo and goes to Times Square.

At Times Square, Peter sees a sign saying Spider-Man is to receive the Key to the City. Peter then goes to pick up Harry and bring him to his penthouse apartment, where they hang out for a while. Peter gives Harry his old basketball and throws it to him in the living room, knocking over a vase. Harry effortlessly catches both the ball and the vase, causing Peter to worry that Harry will regain his memory. Spider-Man swings over to Mary Jane's theatre and receives a round of applause by townspeople. However, unknown to him causes a recently fired Mary Jane to storm off, frustrated and upset.

The next day, during a festival honoring Spider-Man for saving Gwen Stacy's life, Peter bumps into Mary Jane who encourages him. Spider-Man then swings in and does a few small stunts on stage. He drops down and suspends himself at head level with Gwen Stacy, upside down. He tells her to kiss him and the pair do, in nearly the same way Spider-Man and Mary Jane did before.

Film sandman spidey

Spider-Man tries to stop Sandman.

Suddenly, a cloud of sand flies in, disrupting the ceremony, and Spider-Man goes to investigate. Spider-Man then sees the cloud of dust from Sandman who attempts to rob an armored car. Spider-Man goes in the car and tries to punch Sandman, but his hand goes straight through his stomach. Sandman punches him out of the car, but Spider-Man swings back to continue the fight. Sandman retreats and Spider-Man find out that the armored car is about to crash into a large vehicle. Spider-Man quickly saves the two drivers and jumps out. However, Sandman is nowhere to be seen.

Captain Stacy later informs Peter and Aunt May that Marko is the one who killed Uncle Ben, and a vengeful Peter waits for Marko to strike again. The symbiote bonds with his costume while he is asleep; Peter discovers that not only has his costume changed, but his powers have been enhanced as well. The black suit also alters Peter's personality, making him more violent and spiteful, exemplified by a near lethal attack on Sandman during a battle underground.

The shift in Peter's personality alienates Mary Jane, whose stage career is floundering, and she finds solace with Harry. Harry recovers from his amnesia from his dead father who wants Harry to avenge him and wants him to attack Peter's heart by forcing MJ to break up with Peter. After Mary Jane leaves Peter, stating she is in love with another man, Harry meets him at a restaurant and claims to be the other man. Later, Peter finds him at the Osborn mansion. With the help of the black suit, Peter is victorious in a brutal battle, which leaves Harry's face disfigured. Influenced by the suit, Peter exposes and humiliates Eddie Brock, Jr., a rival freelance photographer, who has sold fake pictures to the Daily Bugle supposedly showing Spider-Man to be a criminal.

In an effort to make MJ jealous, Peter brings Gwen to the nightclub where Mary Jane works. Peter gets into a fight with the club's bouncers, but accidentally backhands MJ, knocking her to the floor. Peter realizes the symbiote-suit is changing him for the worse. He runs out of the nightclub and goes to a church bell tower to get rid of it. Initially, he is unable to pull off the suit, but the sound of the church bell weakens the symbiote, enabling Peter to break free. Eddie Brock is at the same church praying for Peter's death when the symbiote falls from the tower and takes over his body. The newly-empowered Eddie finds Sandman and suggests that they join forces to destroy Spider-Man.

Spider-Man faces Venom and Sandman.

The pair use Mary Jane as bait to force Spider-Man to confront them. Peter approaches Harry for help but is turned away. However, Harry learns the truth about his father's death from his butler Bernard and arrives in time to rescue Peter, teaming up against Eddie and Sandman. As the fight progresses, Eddie attempts to impale Peter with the glider, but Harry sacrifices himself and is fatally wounded. Peter recalls how the church bell's toll weakened the symbiote and frees Eddie from it by clanging several pipes together. Peter throws a pumpkin bomb at the symbiote just as Eddie attempts to rebond with it, killing him and destroying the symbiote.

After the battle, Marko tells Peter that he had no intention of killing Uncle Ben and that it was an accident, born out of a desperate attempt to save his daughter's life. Peter forgives Marko, who dissipates and floats away. Peter and Harry forgive each other before Harry dies with Mary Jane and Peter at his side.

Peter, along with Mary Jane, Aunt May and several others, attend Harry's funeral. Later, at the jazz club, Peter and Mary Jane renew their relationship and share a dance together.

Spider-Man: No Way Home[]

"I generally don't go around advertising it. Kinda defeats the whole anonymous superhero thing."
―Peter-Two[src]

Sometime following Harry Osborn's death, Peter mended his relationship with Mary Jane Watson and the couple resumed their romantic involvement in each other's lives, with Parker also continuing his duties as New York's protector. One day at an unspecified point in his life, he was suddenly transported into a new, unfamiliar reality unlike his own. He soon discovered that he was brought into this universe alongside three villains that he had fought in the past and, upon discovering that the Peter Parker of that universe was falsely incriminated for the death of Mysterio some time prior, felt obligated to help him.

Ned Leeds accidentally brought Parker into his grandmother's house when attempting to find his best friend, and Parker met another alternate version of himself, who was summoned by Ned earlier. Initially suspicious of his appearance, he soon realized that they were both brought to this universe through similar means, and that they both had to find the other Peter, feeling that he needed their help. They, Ned, and Michelle Jones-Watson finally found this universe's Parker sitting on the roof of Midtown School of Science and Technology, distraught after the death of his Aunt May at the hands of the Green Goblin, who Parker had previously fought some time ago. Understanding this Peter's plight, Parker recounted the night during which he felt personally responsible for the death of his Uncle Ben, and his attempt to hunt down who he thought was his killer, encouraging Parker to not give into his violent tendencies, and instead fight in May's honor like she would have wanted. The three Peters agreed to work together in synthesizing cures for the remaining four villains (Peter-One had earlier given Otto Octavius a new inhibitor chip) who had come into this universe from their respective realities: Norman Osborn, Sandman, Lizard, and Electro, so that they may return to their universes with their fates altered, giving them a second lease on life. Peter-Two created an anti-serum for Osborn, telling Parker that he'd been "thinking about it a long time." After creating the cures, Peter and his variants all rendezvous at the Statue of Liberty, outfitted with Captain America's shield in this universe, as they await the villains' arrival.

When the villains approached the landmark, Peter (nicknamed Peter-Two by this universe's Parker) and his counterparts were initially overwhelmed by their power and coordination efforts and realized they needed to better strategize how to subdue them. Peter-Two agreed with his counterparts on taking out each villain one at a time, curing Marko while Peter-One cured Connors and Octavius cured Dillon. Upon curing Marko, Connors, and Dillon, Parker reunited with a now-reformed Octavius. Upon exchanging a few compliments between each other, the Green Goblin appeared and destroyed Doctor Strange's spell with one of his pumpkin bombs, initiating a brutal close-quarters battle between this universe's Parker and Green Goblin as the sun rose over the city. When the scaffolding on which they were fighting collapsed, Peter-Two grabbed the falling Connors with his webbing and carried him to safety. As the teenage Parker prepared to impale Norman with his own glider, Peter-Two, remembering the fate Norman originally met in his universe, intervenes, stopping his alternate self from finishing him off, only to be non-fatally stabbed in the back by the corrupted Goblin. Peter-Three threw the teenage Parker the anti-serum for the Goblin, which the teenage Parker finally proceeded to inject him with, fully ridding the disgraced Osborn of his Goblin persona and restoring him to a remorseful and mentally shattered shell of his former self. The young Peter bid farewell to Parker and his other variant, as Parker was returned to his universe along with Osborn, Octavius, and Marko at the cost of Strange's spell successfully being cast, and subsequently ridding the entire world of their knowledge of their own Parker's existence.

Character traits[]

Peter, as Spider-Man, is proven to be a brave and righteous hero with an indomitable sense of justice and responsibility. Since the death of his wise and beloved uncle, Ben Parker, Peter's vow of responsibility had led him to a path of heroism and humanitarian.

To those in the authorities, Peter (under the persona of Spider-Man) was seen as an outlaw and vigilante, someone just as dangerous as those he brought in. Over the years, he gradually became respected by the authorities, those are the NYPD and NYFD, as well as the citizens of New York City, despite J. Jonah Jameson considering him as a masked menace.

Peter is individualistic as he works by himself. This was caused when he was a social outcast in his youth. This had gradually lessened when he became best friends with Harry Osborn and then the boyfriend of Mary Jane Watson.

Peter also has a sense of humor, and often cracks jokes as Spider-Man, such as fighting Bonesaw McGraw, making a joke to insult him and his wrestling uniform, and when fighting supervillains, such as Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Sandman.

Peter was originally shy and awkward towards his life-long crush, Mary Jane, as he had a hard time talking to her and making conversations with her. Since he didn't want her to get hurt by his enemies, he wanted to be friends with her, but after Mary Jane discovers his superhero identity, she decides to be with him no matter what risks can be caused.

However, under the influence of the symbiote, Peter's good nature was corrupted, making him arrogant, angry, rude, and even more sarcastic. He also gained a vengeful streak, violently lashing out at those who had hurt him, such as Harry, who believed that he killed his father, and Eddie Brock, who had admittedly worked against him, Peter relished in getting vengeance on them, even making quips as he always had, but with no friendly inflection. He also began acting foolishly in public, dancing and overall making dramatic displays to garner attention. Soon, this came to a head when he took Gwen Stacy to a night club, but had only brought her to humiliate Mary Jane after she left, Peter confronted Mary Jane, angry at her recent treatment of him and, when asked to leave by the bouncer, violently and aggressively attacked him, but accidentally backhanded Mary Jane. Horrified at having to hurt her, Peter's true nature broke the symbiote's hold on him and, in remorse, he instantly attempted to separate himself from it.

Peter displays a caring and sympathetic side when he decided it is time to mend his relationship with Mary Jane, after their relationship was worsened due to the symbiote controlling Peter, and Mary Jane returned his affection and reconciled with him.

When he was transported into an alternate universe as an adult, Peter is more sure of himself, retaining his good nature and continuing his work as Spider-Man, although he is disgusted by some of his alternate selves' questions about his organic web-shooting abilities, which they lack due to using mechanical web-shooters. Peter embraces the chance at saving his former enemies, noting at one point that he could create an anti-serum for Norman because he'd been "thinking about it a long time", suggesting that even with Norman long dead, Peter still wanted to save him, as shown when he stopped the alternate Peter from killing Norman and was happy when Norman was finally cured of his Green Goblin persona instead. When he was reunited with Otto, who was given a new inhibitor chip by the alternate Peter, Peter told him that he was "trying to do better", mirroring their first meeting.

Spider-Man - Fight Moves Compilation HD

Spider-Man trilogy battles.

  • Spider Physiology: Due to being bitten by a genetically modified super spider, Spider-Man possesses the proportionate powers of a spider; such as superhuman strength, durability, endurance, speed, agility, reflexes, equilibrium, stamina, senses, etc. He can also cling to solid surfaces, produce organic webbing, and has a "spider sense" that alerts him to danger.
    • Superhuman Strength: Possessing the proportionate strength of a spider, Spider-Man is much stronger than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can overpower a group of thugs relatively easily, and his kicks and punches can send normal humans flying. Spider-Man can lift objects that weigh up to 20 tons with little to no effort at all. He was also able to stop a train from plummeting off its tracks. He appears to be particularly strong, even when up against alternate-reality versions of himself. When an alternate Spider-Man attempted to impale the Green Goblin with his own glider, Spider-Man jumped in the way and was able to hold his alternate self back without much effort, despite the alternate Spider-Man being fueled by rage at the time.
      • Emotional State: If Spider-Man gives into his emotions, particularly his rage, then his superhuman strength is further greatly amplified; as demonstrated during his final confrontation against the Green Goblin.
    • Superhuman Durability: Spider-Man is far more durable than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can withstand great impacts; such as falling from a height of several stories or being hit by opponents with superhuman strength, that would have severely injured or killed a normal human. After being stabbed in the back by the Green Goblin, Spider-Man stated that he would be fine, having been stabbed before.
    • Superhuman Endurance: Spider-Man's endurance is far more greatly developed than normal humans and most other superhumans. He took an incredibly powerful blow from New Goblin's glider and Sandman's superhuman strength without any signs of fatigue or pain. He even survived powerful blows from Venom and a gigantic Sandman before coming close to dying. After being stabbed in the back by the Green Goblin, Spider-Man was able to mask his pain well while saying goodbye to an alternate version of himself. However, he had to lean on yet another version of Spider-Man, who he privately admitted that he was in a great deal of pain to.
    • Superhuman Speed: Possessing the proportionate speed of a spider, Spider-Man is much faster than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can catch up to, chase, or outrun speeding vehicles relatively easily and moves too fast for the eye to see and the ear to hear. Spider-Man can land several hits on normal humans before they can even get even one hit on him. Spider-Man is also capable of outrunning two Goblin Gliders.
    • Superhuman Agility: Possessing the proportionate agility of a spider, Spider-Man is far more agile than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can perform acrobatic and gymnastic moves such as swinging from webbing around New York.
    • Superhuman Reflexes: Spider-Man's reflexes are much faster than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can dodge or counter any attack, including gunfire, even at point-blank range. Spider-Man's spider-sense allows him to preempt danger before it happens; which helps him to react in advance.
    • Superhuman Flexibility: Possessing the proportionate flexibility of a spider, Spider-Man is far more flexible than normal humans and most other superhumans. He is flexible, to the point that he does not need to exercise or train his body in any way.
    • Superhuman Equilibrium: Spider-Man's equilibrium is far more greatly developed than normal humans and most other superhumans. He can balance perfectly on any object, no matter how small or narrow it is.
    • Superhuman Dexterity: Spider-Man's dexterity is far more greatly developed than normal humans and most other superhumans. Spider-Man has more control over limbs, muscles, and digits than normal humans and most other superhumans do.
    • Superhuman Jumping/Leaping: Possessing the proportionate jumping and leaping off a spider, Spider-Man can jump much higher, and leap further than normal humans and most other superhumans.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Spider-Man possesses far more stamina than normal humans and most other superhumans, allowing him to remain physically active for long periods.
    • Superhuman Senses: Spider-Man's senses are far more greatly developed than normal humans and most other superhumans, he no longer needs his glasses after the spider's bite. He is also able to sense, hear and see being and objects near to and distant from him much like any spider would.
      • Night Vision: Due to Spider-Man's superhuman senses, he can see clearly in the dark.
      • Spider-Sense: Spider-Man possesses precognitive danger senses, as he can quickly dodge any form of attacks just after sensing them. He sensed Green Goblin's presence before he even physically appeared. He was even able to sense the glider getting ready to kill him and dodged it even without looking at all. When New Goblin attacked him, he sensed his presense.
      • Accelerated Perception: Spider-Man can sense, see, and hear beings and things and process information, and persevere and think much faster than normal humans and most other superhumans. Spider-Man can sense, see, and hear beings and things so fast they appear in slow motion.
    • Accelerated Healing Factor: Spider-Man's superhuman natural healing, health, immune system, and metabolism allow him to rapidly heal faster, more extensively, and efficiently than normal humans and most other superhumans, and even capable of rapidly regenerating from those that would prove lethal to normal humans and most other superhumans to heal from, his eyesight was completely healed overnight. All the extensive cuts he received from his battles healed in a matter of hours without any scars.
      • Superhuman Immunity: Due to Spider-Man's accelerated healing factor, he is immune to most, if not all, types of diseases, illnesses, sickness, drugs, poisons, toxins, radiation, disorders, disabilities, etc.
    • Web Generation: Spider-Man can generate, create, and project organic silk webbing from glands inside his forearms. This is seemingly unique only to him as the Spider-Man of Earth-199999 and Spider-Man of Earth-120703 had to use mechanical web-shooters instead.
    • Wall-Crawling: Spider-Man is able to stick or grip onto any surface; much like any spider would; by using his fingertips and feet.

Weaknesses[]

  • Limited Durability: Although Spider-Man is incredibly durable, he does have his limits. Objects, weapons or other superhumans with enough force can injure him.
  • Limited Endurance: Although Spider-Man has incredible endurance, he does have his limits. When he stopped a train from plummeting off it's tracks; the strain of doing so was painful to the point; that it knocked him out.
  • Emotional State: If Spider-Man becomes too emotionally stressed; he will temporarily lose his super-powers, which will revert him back to his normal state; which was prior to Spider-Man being bitten by a genetically modified "super" spider.
  • Ethyl Chloride: Perhaps as a side effect of Spider-Man gaining his powers, he is susceptible to the pesticide ethyl chloride.
  • Venom: Due to the fact that Venom was previously bonded to Spider-Man; his spider-sense does not consider it a threat; as Spider-Man was unable to sense Venom when it attacked him.

Equipment[]

  • Spider-Man Suit: Peter wears a suit as his superhero alter-ego, Spider-Man, to hide his identity from his enemies, when he goes out fighting crime. Peter originally wore a wrestling suit, but after the death of his uncle, Ben Parker, he now wears a skin-tight red and blue suit that is based on an arachnid. He has spare suits if the others get damaged during his battles with several supervillains.

Appearances/Actors[]

Behind the scenes[]

  • In the comics, Spider-Man used mechanical web-shooters with artificial webbing he designed himself; unlike in the film, where he had the ability to shoot webbing. This change was due to Sam Raimi's decision of making it more realistic since a high school student could not have created something government scientists could not.
  • Unlike the comics version, Raimi's Spider-Man suit has a raised web pattern.
  • Tobey Maguire had to have his Spider-Man suit slightly remodeled as the original design had not made any allowances for when the actor needed a bathroom break. A vent was added to enable him to perform without having to take the entire costume off.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio, Freddie Prinze Jr, Chris Klein, Josh Hartnett, Jude Law, Wes Bentley, Heath Ledger, Topher Grace, Ewan McGregor, Chris O'Donnell, Colin Farrell, Scott Speedman, Joe Manganiello, Jay Rodan, and James Franco respectively were all considered for the role; before Maguire was cast. Franco, Grace, and Manganiello would later portray Harry Osborn, Venom, and Flash Thompson.

Trivia[]

  • After Spider-Man's release, the comics version of Spider-Man went through a change where he underwent a further mutation which also gave him the ability to shoot his own natural webbing where he no longer needed his web-shooters similar to the movie.
    • However, when the comic book writers decided to retcon his marriage to Mary Jane and restore the classic Spider-Man image, the events of this mutation were also retconned as well, restoring Spider-Man to his web-shooters.
  • Tobey Maguire said he had never read a Spider-Man comic book, but took the role because he liked the script.
  • Before filming of Spider-Man 2, Tobey Maguire injured his back during the filming of Seabiscuit, putting his role as Spider-Man at risk. As a result, Jake Gyllenhaal was considered as a replacement for Peter in the movie. However, Maguire was able to recover in time for filming, maintaining his role. Funnily enough, Gyllenhaal portrayed Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
