The Mutant Detection Device is a device that was created by Bolivar Trask, to detect other mutants.

X-Men: Days of Future Past[]
Made by Trask Industries founder Bolivar Trask himself attempted to present the device to communist during the Paris Peace Accords in 1973. However when Trask demonstrated the device and activated the device picked up the presence of Mystique who was disguised as one of the leaders.
Design[]
The Mutant Detection Device was one of Bolivar Trask's first major inventions. The MDD identifies cerebral output waves along certain genetically common frequencies in order to identify the presence of humans with X-Gene mutations. This technology now comes standard in every sentinel built.
