Alcatraz is an island in San Francisco, California. It is best known for hosting a prison, closed in 1963.

X-Men: The Last Stand[]
Alcatraz Island was the holding place of Leech, the DNA basis of the Mutant Cure because Worthington Labs deemed it the safest place to hold him to avoid protests. However, Magneto used his powers to lift the Golden Gate Bridge and connect Alcatraz Island to the mainland, allowing his Brotherhood to attack the facility. Later, the X-Men arrived to fight the Brotherhood and most of the island was destroyed by Phoenix.
