- Corruption Inducement: The Darkholds were able to corrupt other individuals, turning them into corrupt versions of themselves.
- Dreamwalking: Dreamwalking allowed the user to temporarily possess another counterpart of themselves from the multiverse.
- Infinite Knowledge: The Darkholds contained unlimited knowledge of other myths, legends, sentience, mechanics, technology, formulas, mystical powers and spells.
- Physical Augmentation: The Darkhold was able to amplify the physical attributes of other magic-users to immense superhuman levels, for example, Scarlet Witch was able to withstand a blast from one of the Masters of the Mystic Arts' cannons and America Chavez's powerful blows, and was completely unfazed by them. She was also able to overpower America relatively easily.
- Power Augmentation: The Darkhold was able to temporarily amplify the mystical powers of other magic-users to immense supernatural levels, this was demonstrated when Scarlet Witch was able to overpower Stephen Strange, Wong and several other members of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, with little to no effort at all.

- In the comics, the book is referred to as the Book of Spells and Book of Sins, and is the opposite of the Book of the Vishanti. The book is a collection of all evil spells in existence gathered by the Elder God Chthon.
- In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it is revealed that the origin of the Darkhold is that it was copied from the walls of Mount Wundagore meaning the difference of appearance between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the MCU could mean there were multiple books made.
