|Appeared in||X-Men: First Class|
The Blackbird is the X-Men's first aerial transport and appears in X-Men: First Class. It has some VTOL capabilities, a technology many years ahed of its time.
Blackbird is strongly visually based on the SR-71, though its internal layout is very different. The film is set in 1962, when the real-world SR-71 was still in development, meaning it is most like an A-12 which was first flown in April of that year. A young Dr. Hank McCoy designs the Blackbird while working in CIA's Division X, and later pilots the stealth jet for the X-Men during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
On Colonel William Stryker's computer, there is a folder titled "Blackbird".
