Baxter Building is an art-deco apartment block located in New York City at 42nd Street and Madison Avenue, it is the residence and lab of Reed Richards, it is also the headquarters of the Fantastic Four.
History[]
Fantastic Four[]
Built as an art-deco apartment block, Reed Richards had rented the entire top floor and turned it into a laboratory/home. Victor von Doom mentioned that Reed had four mortgages on the building and that he couldn't even pay the bills to keep the lights going.
After being exposed to cosmic energy during an experiment on the Von Doom Industries Space Station developing extraordinary powers, the Fantastic Four returned to the Baxter Building to study their mutations and try and cure them. After several weeks, Reed built a device to reproduce the storm. Doom used Ben Grimm's desire to return to normal to trick Ben into removing his powers while increasing Doom's.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer[]
Immediately prior to the Silver Surfer's arrival on Earth, the Baxter Building's roof was the place of Reed Richards and Sue Storm's wedding. To reflect the Fantastic Four's increased prosperity and importance, the depiction of the Baxter Building was updated with the team's logo appearing at the top.
