Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is the cassette tape belonging to Peter Quill of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Created by his mother, the tape features a number of best selling songs from her youth, spread across the 1960's and 70's.

Trivia[]
- Though a soundtrack was released for the film, the track listings from this album are not canon as being the same set of songs of Star Lord's cassette. Ain't No Mountain High Enough is a perfect example, featuring on the album but being played as the first song on the second mixtape by Quill's mother, Awesome Mix Vol. 2. Come A Little Bit Closer by Jay and the Americans is another example, having not featured in the first film but must feature on Vol. 1, with a copy being held by the Ravagers and played by Kraglin Obfonteri as Yondu and Rocket escape the Elector during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
- Some deliberation could be made over the inclusion of some songs, such as I Want You Back, by The Jackson 5, having not appeared until the very end of the first film but after the introduction of Awesome Mix Vol. 2.
