Asgard

Asgard is the home realm of the Asgardians. It was ruled by Odin the Allfather; other notable inhabitants include Thor, Loki and Frigga. It is based on the Norse mythological world of the same name. It is one of the Nine Realms.

Asgard is a celestial planetoid in an unknown part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is not a planet like Earth or Jotunheim, but is instead a flat, mystical realm filled with cliffs and waterfalls that pour out into outer space.

History

Thor

Asgard is one of the "nine realms" known to the Asgardians, the deities of Norse mythology; its precise location is unclear, but it appears to reside in a solar system or parallel universe far removed from Earth's. Its people are known to be keepers of peace throughout the realms. The ruler of Asgard, Odin, has tried to maintain this peace since the war between the Asgardians and the Frost Giants. However, Odin's reckless son Thor nearly disrupted the peace between the Asgardians and the Frost Giants, almost causing another war. Asgard is covered in shining buildings of gold, with the Asgardian Castle gleaming in the center of the city.
