0-8-4 (code)
Appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

An 0-8-4 was the code used originally by Strategic Scientific Reserve and now by S.H.I.E.L.D. for an "object of unknown origin."

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Coulson's Team was called in to investigate when an 0-8-4 was found embedded in the wall of an ancient temple in Peru. Agents Fitz and Simmons ran tests on the device, but Agent Ward was forced to prematurely pull the device out of the wall and take it back to the Bus when the site was attacked by Peruvian rebels who wanted to steal the device. On board the Bus, Fitz and Simmons ran further tests and determined that the device was a Plasma Particle Beam weapon powered by Tessarect energy and built by HYDRA. Peruvian troops led by Camilla Reyes attempted to steal the device, but were foiled. The device was believed to have been fired into the sun by Slingshot.

After the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Obelisk was stored by the United States Government in a facility supervised by Glenn Talbot. Daniel Whitehall, the HYDRA agent who originally discovered the Obelisk in 1945, hired Carl Creel to retrieve it for him. However, a small group of former S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives discovered it first, resulting in a scuffle with Creel. During the altercation, Agent Isabelle Hartley grabbed the Obelisk and succumbed to its affects, forcing Agent Lance Hunter to amputate her hand to keep it from killing her. She died anyway, though, when Creel attacked their SUV and then made off with the Obelisk.
